Hi, I'm trying to convince the OH to let me have more pigs and she says no on the grounds that it means Merry & Suilven will get less floor time.

Does anyone have more than one pair of *oars that share floor time? Sorry my * key isn't working at the mo:(

I would love them to exercise together so no-one had restricted floor time *ut is that too much to ask of them?

I really l,ove the miniherd of *oars Milhaven have for homing and as a *oy only house they are perfect for us.

Not sure I can have any more pigs inside and OH thinks if they live outside and my current pigs are inside they'd *e like second class pigs. How do people work the multiple pig thing and give everyone lots of time?!

Hi I have five guinea pigs. They live in a big c&c cage so do not need floor time but each day they get lap time with me. It is harder to give them all attention but so worth it as they are happier as a herd. I would never have my piggies outside as they are family to me and I always want them with me.

lol you've really got some keyboard issues there haven't you? ;)

I haven't tried all four of my boys out together, I was planning on using my old run (trixie grids) to make a divider across the living room so they have half each but the two new boys have fell out and are currently seperated :( so THAT idea is going into play tomorrow to try and re bond them two.

I would be going along those lines and see how it goes, then if no major issues maybe try them with floor time like in a living room because as you know, with boars space is key.

I'm holding off to save any more upsets but worse case scenario is you divide the space so they can exercise and see each other with out the risk of upsetting your current boys bond.

I have the two cages on top of each other, altho winston is in a smallish cage beside them now, for now :{

No generally speaking boars won't just exercise together my boars wish to kill one another, if Fred so much as see's Patrick his fur is up and the chatters begin.

In al honesty I do believe my pig's get less time as there's 6 - I see them all at the same time they live in a 3 storey C&C cage but they don't get out every night although I do think there cage is big enough to compensate for that. They have rotated floortime but if someone get's ill then everyone else is forgotten about as my priorities change instantly, due to monitoring and looking after the sick pig.

Cage cleaning takes an hour and a half, I do this every 4 days - and floortime is rotated then to so everyone gets out there cage (one after the other).

When it's nice I set up 3 runs so everyone gets out together, which works great.

In all honesty - my pigs get less time compared to someone with two pig's but they have everything they need and I really do know my pigs, would I have 6 again short answer NO. I do struggle to give all my time - although the pigs don't really care and the vet bill's have been stupidly high this year. Vet Bills are something you must consider if I only had 2 pigs my vet bills could have been '0'. Instead they are over £1000.

Yeah I thought splitting the living room might work however Suilvy nees tons of space as he does mad laps ar great speed... He's just popcorned out of the cage into the side of the wastepaper *asket and knocked over then shot round *ehind the sofa...

Thought a lone lad might work as Merry & Suilvy like to stay together for cuddles so OH or I could have the third one. Cavy haven had a massive rescue earlier in the year and have lots of grumpy lones that might work for us.

I supose it depends on your personal set up. I don't have a lawn so they have floor time indoors like you. Plus, would the new pair need to come out every day? Mine have lap time most days but only floor time about twice a week. You could let the current two have the most floor time, then anyone else will have to have second pickings.

PS- You'll never believe it but OH doesn't want either of the new boys to go if they won't rebond and has agreed to let me build a 3 storey c & c!
So IF they won't rebond that means pairing the boys up with new partners again which means 4 will become 6 lol!

Yeah Merry and Suilvy are practically free range when I get home from work so they have floor time heaps...

Ok so floor time together won't work so may*e split floortime is the way forward. I don't want anyone to lose out so i'm not sure what to do...

May*e OH is right...

I have 7 female piggies in 2 groups. They dont get floor time every day. If I had fewer I guess they would have more of my time.... but... I have 2 that live in a 7 foot by 28" C&C cage so they have a huge amount of space. The other 5 live in 2 storeys of the 7'x28" cage so again have lots of space. Cage cleaning twice a week - they get out then and also during the day as I work from home a lot and can swap them over. But on the 2 days I go into work they dont get floor time generally.
