How do you stroke your piggies? ?/
The babies' hair is growing in about 7 different directions at the moment and I feel like any way I groom them is the wrong way. It's like trying to pet a nail brush. :))

I just brush the hair through and it falls into place whatever way it is growing:))

Honestly, mine was on fleece and never once did they need any brushing. I just bath them once a month and there are no tangles at all. inbreeding

That's the trouble though, their hair doesn't fall into place. It's growing straight up. :))
I'm not worried about needing to brush them so much, I just want to stroke them in the way that's most comfortable for them. Eg,, If you stroke a "normal" haired piggy against the direction of their hair, they get mad. rolleyes

In my experience peruvians hair doesn't stick up? it lies long and flat, very much like human hair. Is your pig definately peruvian?

Or is this a different type i'm unaware of? I've only seen peruvians with long hair and that's how one of my boys is....:{

You just brush it which direction whatever; it doesn't really matter. The longer the hair gets, the straighter it will be because it gets heavier.

later on, you may wish to keep the bum end cut short in order to prevent peeing on it and matting. Also keep a close eye on the bum around the legs where matting can also occur. I always cut the sides of my longhaired piggies so that the hair on the sides doesn't touch the floor. You will need to keep an adult peru trimmed regularly; the hair will continue to grow.

I haven't got any perus now, but I grew up with a succession of them, and my first own piggy as a teeneager was a peru.

Lord Bernie's hair was sprouting all over, but when long, as Wiebke says, it just falls naturally and he looks almost smooth all over but there are "rosettes" as such.

Unfortunately, for the poor Lord himself, he has had a very dramatic hair cut today, so it's stuck up all over the place - he's not bothered :)) and it's much better for his skin ;) but he doesn't look like a Peruvian now to me :^- but hey ho - better for him eh?

I just brush which ever way the hair lies - he seems to like it :)
