Questions about adding a pig

Hi! I have a couple questions about getting a second guinea pig for my current pig. I have a female who's about 5 or 6 months old.
-What would be a good age to introduce a second pig to my current pig, should I wait until my pig is a little older? And what age should the second pig be, older or younger than mine?
-My current pig is very jumpy and wild, but I'm not sure if that's just her age or her personality. That being said, should the second guinea pig also be energetic, or calmer?
-I want to adopt the second one, so do you think it's a good idea to bring my pig to the house or shelter to see the second pig and if they get along before bringing them home?

Character compatibility is far more important than age.
If you can go to a rescue centre who offer a bonding service then that can help greatly as they will find a suitable companion for your piggy. In my local reacue, you drop your piggy off for a few days, they find a companion, do the bonding and then you just bring both piggies home with all the hard work done for you!

Age does not matter with bonding piggies... it's all about the pigsonality and having a compatible pairing. The best way is to go to a reputable rescue that will assist with bonding so that you come home with the best possible companion for your piggy.
If you do get one from elsewhere you will need to have a separate set up in a separate room to complete a full quarantine to ensure no bugs/illnesses are brought in which could affect your piggy

I was in the difficult position a year back in which one of my boars has passed away, and the other needed a friend. The hard bit was that there were no rescues which offered a bonding service in my area. I just chose a younger pig than my current one (so Ted would had less dominance issues), with a calm personality. It worked out fine for me, just in case you can’t find a rescue with a boar dating service.

Hi!

Young guinea pigs are desperate for companionship. The sooner you can find her a same sex companion or a neutered boar, the better.

Age is much less important than mutual liking and character compatibility. If you have a rescue within your reach that allows you bring your piggy for dating, then please go there!

If you find another rescue, please make sure that they have quarantine/veterinary care, that they make sure that no sows are potentially pregnant and that any neutered boars are 6 weeks past their operation.
If not, all the risks are on your side and you need to be prepared to meet them.
