Missy has hair loss from suspected hormonally-active ovarian cysts, and I’m just wondering if this degree of hair loss is typical?

That’s the worst side. She is a Peruvian-Abyssinian mix, and she also has a bald patch in the middle of her back where the hair parts.

I’ve not had a piggy with ovarian cysts before so I’m not sure how much hair loss is to be expected, and what areas can be affected.

Also, should I be doing anything in particular with her skin? Does she need moisturisers or anything?

Please have her checked in case she has got mange mites. They are an opportunist that can hit whenever the immune system is lowered. If there is a stubble on the skin when you feel, then you are more likely dealing with a barbering problem due to discomfort underneath.

There’s no stubble, she’s just bald in places and overall her hair is thinner. I’ve not seen any scratching or barbering, but I’ll get her checked for mites anyway.

Should I moisturise her baldy bits?

Not unless the skin is flakey. At least you can now exclude barbering and be reassured that the hair loss is hormonally based. ;)
