Quick Boar Question!

Hiii guys!

I have read the sticky about males and just want to double check and stop being neurotic!

My boys are 12 weeks old this week, so are probably in the stroppy phase, right?

They seem to get along ok, although they aren't as cuddly as my old pair, they tend to have their own hidey holes, but when in the run chase each other for ages, try the odd hump, get the hump cos they can't hump then sit munching next to each other.

They popcorn (I think! that's the random jumping, right?) a lot, and I noticed while in the indoor run today they were jumping, running around like loons, running into the pop up tent, purring, then one of them exited and went to the cosy... this happened quite a lot lol, there wasn't any chattering and they both went off after a while and tipped over the veg bowl (Bandit was lucky, I think Smokey was aiming for his head! inbreeding).. and now they are both in the pop up tent that caused the mini strop.

This is all normal right? I needn't worry unless there is actual scrapping and/or blood?

I thought the 'stroppy phase' was a bit older than 3 months, more like 9-12 months, but I could be wrong. Either way, as long as there is no blood you are ok :)

Sounds like they are fun to watch!

Ohh I read anything from 12weeks to 15mths somewhere! looks like I have a while to wait and hope the tide doesn't turn so to speak then :x

They are fun to watch, I just worry they aren't getting on, but nope, no blood and no chattering, just a bit of purring and LOTS of jumping and running around like loons :))
 
12 weeks to 15 months! Wow! That must be the piggie equivalent to about 9 human years :)) Which means they get through the difficult stage much quicker than humans. I knew I was better off with piggies than kids :))
 
my boys lived happily together until they hit the 12 week mark then all hell broke loose ! they started fighting (drawing blood) and now at 14 weeks old live side by side seperated by a mesh ! they seem very happy like this so alls well so they say .... shame they couldnt get on though. hope you have more success with your boys :)
 
Sounds like perfectly normal young boar behaviour. Similar thing was going on next to me about 5 minutes ago between Malcolm (12 weeks) and Griff (11 months.)

Griff hit the terrible teens quite early - from about 6 or 7 weeks, he was driving his older companion Celyn nuts. After Celyn passed away, we got Malcolm, so it's payback time! :))
