Hiya Guys :))

Just a quick question - Mr Quin, my boar was neutered 5 weeks 5 days ago.
I'm free tonight and really busy for the rest of the week so it would be perfect for me to do bonding all this evening.

Should I go ahead and introduce him to the girls or wait till the full 6 weeks (which will be Wednesday)?

Thanks for the advice in advance.

Hannah :)

Hiya! I think that you are safe! Best of luck!

It is pretty safe from 4 weeks onwards, but I have heard of the odd "golden shot" being fired at five weeks; which is the reason why for the six week wait.

Thanks Wiebke! I thought it would be fine, it's just vets covering themselves but still us piggy people do worry don't we!

I'm going to take lots of piccies to document the occasion (!) I've never bonded boars and sows before, can't wait.

I'm going to pop them in our bath with a sheet in the bottom, which is neutral space for all of them. As well as a big pile of veggies, no boxes without 2 exits etc any other tips?
I have 4 sows, the alpha sow is twice the boars size so he's going to have a run for his money. Should I put them all in together or introduce him to a dominant or quieter sow first? Or am I thinking about it far too much?!

You know what I said about Squeak, we waited for 5 weeks then he was so desperate we let him in. I have never heard of any accidents after 4 weeks. Hope he is in there now as it is Wednesday and the poor feller will be gagging lol

Here is my introduction thread where I have collected tips for introduction.

(PS: The reference section is actually a treasure trove of info and always worth a snoop, even for an expereinced owner!)

Best of luck and don't be disappointed if your girls are not interested simply because they are not in season.

He has, we are sorted! He's being a true gent at the moment, put then again they are twice the size of him! :)
