Quick question on mites

Sorry put this as a reply to a post and thought it is better placed as a new question.


I just wanted to ask a quick question relating to mites. A lot of posts I have read relate to signs of mite infestation are hair loss and wounds on the back. Is this location always the case?
I have just noticed that one of my girls has lost hair on her front, and under her armpits and I has a few sore patches. Could this still be mites? I am taking her to the vet later I was just wondering if anyone knew what it might be?

Mange mites typically start on the back and create a triangle of hair loss. The hair stems are typically broken.

There are other reasons for hair loss:
- fungal problems (often originating in the face or on the ears; hair pulls out easily with bits of skin attached)
- hormonal issues (which could be the cause for your bald patches under arm pits, especially if they are balanced on both sides?)
