my brother mowed the grass and i gave the guineas a bit but i looked through it all to make sure nothing bad was in there, but now i am worried that i shouldnt have gave them it, should i have?

oh yer its by brothers bday tomorro

as long as you dont use weed killer or anything toxic on your grass it should be fine I grow a little patch for mine as I live in a flat ha ha x

I think you're not meant to give them grass cuttings, but I'm sure it's ok if they just have a little bit and ate it quickly. I think it's because it will start to ferment after cutting. But I'm sure your pigs are fine :)

Getting cut grass is generally not a very good a idea because it ferments very quickly and there may be traces of oil or petrol from the mower on it.
However, a small portion once won't hurt them, so please do not panic!

I am thought a bit eccentric by my neighbours, but I go out and cut my grass with scissors - it is a good way of keeping the edges clean, btw. My smallish lawn may not look perfect, but it hasn't been mowed for three years now; everything has ended up in my piggies' tummies, one way or other! :))

I would say not to give them grass cuttings again - apart form fermenting very quickly and causing stomach upsets as CiaraPatricia has alreaady said, it can contain cut up pieces of buttercup which is very nasty for them. Ragwort, foxglove, etc seedlings may also be in there and not obvious so it's best to cut their grass by hand so that you know what's in it.
