I'm hoping somebody has some ideas, I've just given the girls a whole cob and was watching them eat when I noticed Maisie's ear doing something rather strange. After chewing a length of leaf her right ear would lift up and then drop down again. Not the usual ear waggling when they wheek but it kind of reminded me of a bird lifting it's wing in preparation of flight. The other ear remains static. It also happens when she's not eating.
Every-thing else about her is as normal and her weight is constant.

I hope someone comes along and says this is normal cos my Suilven does something similar. His ears flap up and down independantly depending on where he is and his mood and what he's concentrating on.

I'm taking her to the vets on monday, when I posted I actually hadn't looked inside the ear, but I have since and noticed some 'crustiness' and solid matter around and slighty inside the ear. There's no smell or blood and I've looked online and it seems thats very occasionally they can get a build up of wax. So it might be just that she has dirty ears. I will keep you posted.

Well we've just come back from the vets and Maisie had a build up of wax, so she's had her ears cleaned and I've been shown how to do it myself so hopefully thats the last I'll see of her flapping ears - apart from when shes wheeking for her vegitables. :))
