My darling little baby went to Heaven last Monday - v poetic date - 09.11.09.

We were totally devastated. He was only two years old but being a Self Black we'd been warned the life expectancy is much lower than other breeds. We believe this year's fireworks were just too much for his little heart to take.

He is now buried in the rockery and we have Baby Black Jack II installed in the shed. Having been once bitten, so to speak, we will be more prepared next time.

We have opted for another Self Black - their sheer beauty takes my breath away - and whilst my friends have said my memories of them will merge into one I can honestly say even though they are identical in looks (Baby being a complete Mini-Me of BJ) they have totally different characters and personalities.

Rest In Peace my little beauty - we will never ever forget you xxxxxxxxx
 
I am very sorry for your loss, but hope that mini will bring you lots of new joy.

RIP BLack Jack - you will not be forgotten!

rp little black jack so sorry for your loss sorry to ask but why are self blacks life expectancy lower just asking as i have a self black and have never heard of this
 
I'm so sorry to hear this. Black Jack had a wonderful forever home with you and I'm sure he watching over you. Run free at Rainbow Bridge sweet boy and know that your family are so very sad that you are no longer with them.
 
I did not know that self blacks have a shorter life.Anyone know why this is?

I have no idea why they have a shorter life span but I was told it is true. I know they are not so prolific breeders like other piggies so maybe it is something in their genetic make-up.
 
I am so sorry for your loss, it is obvious he was a very much loved pig. Big hugs to you.
