r.i.p my little darling Darwin. I love you with all my heart and am so shocked after months of you getting better you have suddenly died, you where fine yesturday and now you are dead, I just don't understand utterly heartbroken, i have shed so many tears, I will never forget you, sleep tight my my baby your not in pain no more, I miss you so much xxxxxxx
 
I'm really sorry, was he your boy with Bumblefoot?

If so then I suspect it was heart related.

Many people think I'm crazy, but no one understands how much I love my giinea pigs. And too loose darwin after months of becoming so close to him whilst looking after his poorly foot, I've now lost him, and I generally cannot stop crying, Speckles my guinea pig that lives with him is also grieving, he is acting so sad, why do we love these animals so much it's so hard to loose them ;(
 
He was the pig with bumble foot although the vets continued to ignore this when I told them I thought it was bumble foot! after being on antibiotics for ages and his foot not getting worse or improving the vet said to leave it to see what happens.. And now look.. Now I've lost him! ;(
 
I'm afraid it's because we love them so much that it is so painful when they go.
 
I am very sorry for your loss! It is very upsetting when a piggy suddenly goes after seemingly having won a major battle. Sadly, it happens not all that rarely. You did your best and bought him time that he would have otherwise not have had.

Thank you everyone, I no that without all your help with advice when he was poorly he would have not even made it this far, I am truly heartbroken but now I have to remain focussed on the fact I have two guinea pigs that live seperatly now
 
Oh dear, how sad :( I don't think we know how hard it hits until you do lose one of your fur babies. It is very upsetting, and I do sympathise with your feeling of 'could I have done more'. However you said you did everything you could - and really thats it :) you couldn't have done more, you did great caring for him. It takes a little time to come round to this however. Popcorn free darwin x

Don't blame yourself, a lot of vets don't realise the connection between Bumblefoot and heart issues.
 
Just wished I had taken him to a guinea pig vet sooner ;( I appreciate all your kind words everyone. It's hard right now it still is so raw and upsetting. I have found a guinea pig vet that is in bedford around 45 mins away from me . I'm going to ring thI tomorrow to check my two other giinea pigs in as I want health checks done on them to make sure there ok, I can't deal with any other sudden deaths ;(
 
I'm so sorry that you lost your little man. These little fur babies leave a huge hole in your heart when they go. We share your pain. Popcorn free little one.
 
I'm so sad for you , god bless little Darwin, one day you will be with him again, he will play at the bridge until you come for him, the best thing is to cry as much as you need to its grieve and it must come out love and hugs to you, we are all here for you.

I know just what you mean, people think I'm mad for having fabric things for my boys (snuggle sack, fleece tunnel, fleece bedding, blankets etc) people think they should be on shavings and hay only. We fully understand on here how much these little piggies are loved, here if you need us :hug:. Our 3 piggies (hopefully soon 4) are very loved by us all they are part of the family the thought of them passing away is horrid to even think about so i understand how heartbreaking His loss is to you. RIP lovely piggy.
 
Oh this is so sad. I really feel for you. Of course you are in pain as you loved your little boy so much. I am so sorry for your loss.
 
Thank you everyone for your kind worlds, I'm am still heartbroken but coming to terms with being thankful he is no longer in any pain, as he must have been suffering but being a brave little boy he is kept it a secret from me :( I love all my guinea pigs so so much and now I have been working on bonding my two guinea pigs that live seperatly, if anyone has any advice on the best ways to do this it would be appreciated as speckles has lost his bestfriend he is lonely so I'm hoping to pair him back up with Max after they had a squabble last year and where seperated, I bathed them both and placed them both in a place they hadn't been before with lots of veg in the middle to distract them from bickering, so far for one day's work it's gone well, fingers crossed, I love and miss you so much Darwin, mummies little boy RIP ;( x
 
Oh I'm so sorry for your loss. I know it's not really a consolation but we know what you're going through, we've been there. I still miss my beautiful Leeloo every day, but it does get easier. You'll soon be able to remember the lovely funny personality traits about him and you'll smile instead of cry when you think of him.
You did everything you could for him and gave him a good life. You were a great pig mum. Whatever you do, don't blame yourself. Big hugs.
