We got our big black Jesse bear (guinea piggy) over 5 years ago when he was a baby.. he was such a sweetie.. never bit anyone, never skittish he just loved to be pet. About 3-4 years ago we added a second guinea pig Stevie, he's white and black and not quite as sweet because we couldnt socialize and hold him for a couple months after we first got him because my little brother accidently stepped on his back leg and broke it (yea the vet recomended not to hold him so it could heal, which it did fully.).
Jesse and stevie had their seperate cages but they bonded so wellll. They were bestfriends they never fought when we put them together.. which was everyday (wen its not winter) we would put them outside in the grass and they would run free (theres no road in that area) honestly we used to make barricades so they didnt run away but really they just stayed in one area so we would just put them out there free and they would eat grass and run around with eachother. In the winter we set up barracades in our basement and put them together.
Jesse died today :'( less then 2 weeks ago he started losing weight and not eating much.. then his eyes became very gunked up and almost crusted shut, we brought him to the vet a few days ago and got eye cream and antiiotics for a suspected UTI, but i guess it was to late.. earlier today he couldnt even walk anymore, he didnt want to eat..it was just awful. My dad held him all day and he finally died in his arms.
R.I.P:...
:{
But now what about poor stevie bear.. he's lost his companion! he will for sure notice.. what should we do get another guinea pig at some point? it just wont be the same. If stevie was alone outside he would probly run away, but he always stuck with jesse who didnt run away so it was fine.
Shall we try to introduce another MALE guinea piggy? Or would they just fight
