We have had a sad time here at the rescue. Firstly, Cubby suddenly became unwell and died unexpectedly a few weeks ago. She came to us in February from a hoarder and had a number of health issues. Shd had a few good months here with Benny, Kiki and Marnie. She loved to sunbathe and was the bravest little piggy!
Then poor Rocky, he had recovered from his chronic cystitis, had been neutered uneventfully and had been with his wives for just 3 days. He lost his appetite, lost weight and despite the best efforts of our wonderful vet, lost his battle and died peacefully. So sad that he only just got the life he deserved. While he was here he won everyone over with his huge personality. There will never be another Rocky. And then yesterday, Betty, a long term resident who had been treated for years for cystitis, suddenly became unwell and died within 12 hours, despite intensive nursing care. She was renowned as being the Ninja pig, as she took flying leaps at any piggies who she didn't like! She loved her pal Mavis though, who is sadly bereaved. This is the worst part of working in animal rescue, but l feel comforted that they all had the very best of care while they were with us. Goodbye dear Cubby, Rocky and Betty, we will not forget you xx
