Rabbit and Guinea pig care

Ok now my nephew is wanting a small pet he wants a bunny or guinea pig. From what I have been reading it looks like they are about the same as care goes. Am I right? Also wich one would be the most friendly? Any input would help Thanks

Guinea pigs are generally easier.

Both guinea pigs and rabbits need to live with another of their OWN species (do not mix rabbits and guinea pigs, get two piggies or two bunnies).

Rabbits need be vaccinated and also need be neutered...

hi how old is your nephew?

I hope his mum or dad are happy to help with the care, cleaning out etc as it is a lot to ask if he is very young.

I would recommend two guinea pigs of the same sex. There are lots of good books out there that will help him care for them. Collins family pet guide by Peter Gurneyis one i would recommend.

I think guinea pigs are easier, rabbits live a lot long and are prone to far more illness then guinea pig. At the vets with have a lot more rabbits in then guinea pigs. Rabbits can also be hard to handle as they have strong back legs, they can hurt you with out meaning too.

I have always found guinea pigs much friendlier than rabbits my family have had two rabbits that were vicious and didnt like being handled, I have never had an unfriendly guinea pig, good luck with whatever they decide.

leaning towards Guinea Pig. I wont let them get one until we understand every aspect of the care,time involved and responsibility that goes with having a pet like this.

I'd definitely go for guinea-pigs, 2 not 1. I think rabbits need more specialist knowledge, more space, more handling etc. Guineas are great pets.
