hi again (youl all be fed up with me soon lol)

is there a food which both my rabbit and piggy would do well on?

they are currently on a rabbit food which all the pet stores say is suitable for piggys aswell but i dont really believe them as they are for rabbits so wont get the extra vit c. so i thought if we changed to a piggy food then bailey will get the extra vit c but would this harm the rabbit?

we give them high vit c foods though like kale.

Hmmmm can't answer your question i'm afraid, but i'm sure someone will be able to :)

And as for getting fed up with your posts, of course we won't! :)

One of our buns actually prefers Burgess Supa Guinea to Russel rabbit! We have about 3 different diets going on at the moment!
I think it is Ok for rabbits to eat piggy food, if they are not too young - young buns need Russel Junior really. But youcan't give piggies just rabbit food as it has no vit c.

Feeding rabbit food to piggies is an absolute no-go area because it contains no vitamin c. I'm not exactly sure on the other way around though :)

Unless its Chudleys Rabbit Royale..............which is what my piggies have mixed with Tesco's

You can not feed Guinea Pigs rabbit food! Rabbit food is made out of different things because rabbits have different dietry requirements.
Guinea food has vitamin C in it, which they can't produce naturally like rabbits can.

I suposed giving rabbits and guinea pigs the same food, is like feeding fish Smarties lol

I have rabbits and guinea pigs living together (which most people don't agree with) and i feed them seperatly.

So to answer you question, No there isn't a food you can feed rabbits and guineas

:)

No, the different foods are made for different reasons which is one of the reasons why buns and pigs shouldnt be kept together.
Bunnies need a high level of fibre which is not found in guinea food.
Buy the 2 seperate foods and be happy you are giving them both the best instead of compromising one. :)

Normally yes you are right but Dodson & Horrell Rabbit Royale is all natural and hopefully this link from this very forum will explain

http://www.theguineapigforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=3392.0

If it doesn't under this heading FOOD about 2 pages back there is a review on Dodson & Horrell and there are a few people that feed it to their piggies and also the website says you can too! Sorry!

If it only contains 14% fibre then its not really ideal for a rabbit either, they need a food with at least 18-20% fibre in it and surely you would have to be extra careful the guineas were getting a good source of vit c.
Dont want to upset anyone, that is just my opinion. :)

They get veggies, grass and tescos food mixed in as well. Been having it for years as many others have been using it.

thank you for all your replys :)

we arent going to stop the rabbit food all together...if that makes sense. we were planing on mixing both together, just so shorty is getting the extra vit c and the rabbit doesnt loose out ;)

Cant you seperste the animals and get them their own friends? Then they can have the suitable food.

I don't know if it's any good but Tesco's have a 'value rabbit & guinea pig' food.

Ooh god dont mention that, was SO upset and angry when I saw that being sold!

Well considering its 'Teso Value' (Ive seen the Tesco Value Hamster & Gerbil mix and its all seed and dust!) and its made for guinea pigs AND rabbits who need completely different diets...its disgusting!
