Whenever I clean out my piggies cage; I put my boys on my bed.
I lay out a fleece blanket (I know which side is which, I marked it, so it's always hairy-side-up :)) ) and let them wander around or relax while I do the cleaning.

Today, however...Ralph seemed to be interested in staring over the edge of the bed.
I ignored him, thinking how silly he was.

I get back to my cleaning and...*thud*
I thought Ralph fell off the bed, I was so worried. I thought I'd turn around and find him hurt...
No...
He was fine, thank goodness. But he had jumped off the bed and straight into the litter tray, where he peed. I was unsure if I should praise him...Since he took a dangerous leap, but I did anyway, since he went loo in the right place.

So I put Ralph and the Litter Tray on the bed, thinking it would be fine.
No!
I take my hands away and Ralph just hops off the bed, like it's nothing and looks up at me...Then he scurries off the sniff the things on my floor.

So I pick him up and put him inside the 2x1 attic of the cage, which was clean.
I do this with Arnold when he's irritating Ralph and it works...But I've never done it with Ralph. So I assumed it would be fine.

Seriously! Ralph cannot be a Guinea Pig.
He has to be a Guinea Frog or something. I saw him JUST in time and caught him, thankfully! But he positions himself for a jump (and my boy can jump!)
and sure enough, he took the leap from the attic, aiming to land in the bottom half of the cage.
Thank heavens I caught him! He's fine, absolutely fine.

But I think I learned my lesson.
From now on...During cleaning time...Both my boys are going to play on the floor...Because I don't think my heart could take Ralph's daredevil stunts again :{

I have this problem during bath time.
Ralph jumps straight out of the bath when I put him in...Normally hitting me in the face or chest and getting me just as soaked as him.

Ouch - you've got a proper jumper, by the looks of it!

Some pigs just love it and seem to indulge in a suicidal orgy... Usually, it gets better when they get to one year old and start calming down.

Yes. Cheeky is the right word for it.
He's such a gremlin. He really is.

I hope he does calm down as he gets older. I can't handle seeing him do such things, I panic so much.
I think I finally understand how a mother feels @)

But I do love that he can jump so incredibly high, yet he never attempts to escape from his cage.
He obviously knows how good he's got it. :))

The only time he's "escaped" is when I had veggies and didn't feed him fast enough. He jumped right out of the cage.
Arnold just came to the side of the cage and started squeaking...As if to say "Ralph! Don't leave me!".

I'm glad he is ok but please keep an eye on him my piggy had a fall and appeared in 100% health then the next day was draging his legs and turned out to have a major back injury, not trying to worry you just letting you know it can happen,I'm glad all seems well with him it must have given you a fright xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Thank you for the warning. I have been keeping an eye on him and he seems fine.
I was worrying that any damage he did to himself; might show a while later. So I made sure to keep an eye on him.

I've just put both boys in the garden for some sun and fun! And Ralph seems to be very energetic today. He seems to be absolutely fine.

Somebody else's piggy did this too :{ (just can't think who tho mallethead)
I'm so glad the little monkey didn't hurt himself........bless him, he's just an explorer rolleyes :(|):(|)

I have one like that - she's crazy and it's like she has springy back legs she can really leap. It's really scary!

Glad he's okay the little nutter!
