Guinea pigs need constant access to hay with it making up 80% of their diet.. They can never eat too much of it and if they eat loads, it's a really good thing!

Maybe you have a particularly nice batch of hay and they are just enjoying it :-)

I was noticing that with my girls, took me a while to notice they were just pulling it onto the floor out of the hay rack

Dont know the answer but a) isnt it great that they are such good hay eaters? and b) I love your avatar pic awww.

Thank you flowerfairy they are great at having their photo taken lol and yep they do pull a lot out and lay in it just felt like every time I looked at them they were munching away lol and they still love their veggies twice a day buy like you said I make sure their diet is mainly hay x

A lot of small animals eat more over winter - because without a large complicated brain, a relatively large % of their overall energy intake goes towards thermoregulation. So because it's colder, they have to eat more to stay warm. I would anticipate that those who live inside in an environment with very effective central heating/ house insulation would have a smaller seasonal difference.

my two are indoor piggys and all they do is eat these last few weeks but I'm reassured they are fine they are eating plenty of hay which is the main thing Dave is currently guarding his food bowl and Derek is guarding his lol x
