I’m new to the Guniea pig world! This question will probably sound silly but having never had them I’m askimg all the questions that pop into my head! Ahah!

Are Guniea pigs bothered by lawn mowers?😂

The answer to that question has to be YES
any animal that hides when a noise of whateva volume becomes threating to their little ears . .

The only silly question is the one you don’t ask.
We learn by asking questions so go ahead with any questions you want.

To answer this one - mine have never been bothered but they are indoors so that’s probably different than outdoor piggies

My two come out and watch their grass being cut! Our lawn mower is petrol and quite noisy but they have learnt over the years that it won’t harm them x

I think lawn mowers are like vacuum cleaners, they will be scared to start with but slowly they will desensitise and figure out its just a thing that happens. My lot used to hate the vacuum cleaner but now they understand its the last step in cleaning the piggy room before they get a nice clean cage back so they are mostly ok with it!

It is the same as with hoovers/vacuum cleaners: yes, they are bothered, especially the first few times, but they can learn that it is nothing to threaten them directly.
I would however recommend to remove your piggies before you are mowing yourself. It is different if a neighbour of yours decides to mow the lawn while your piggies are out grazing.

I've just been mowing my lawn while my piggies were out on their lawn in their run. They didn't seem that bothered, I guess they are used to it, and I talk to them as I walk past so they know it's me not a predator ...

I confused a Salesman last year who was extolling the virtues of the artificial lawn telling me that I would never have to waste electric mowing the lawn ever again. I said I hadn't mowed it in 3 years as I had 5 very effective and efficient organic lawnmowers doing their stuff and fertilising my lawn at the same time. For some reason he didn't know what I was on about!

Best way to deal with salesmen !

And as we are on this theme, there is a sticky thread on how you can make your piggies work for your garden, lawn and flower pots, too! How To Make Fertiliser Out Of Guinea Pig Waste

It was noticeable to me how much longer the grass stayed green in the areas the piggies graze more frequently during last summer's prolonged heatwave... ;)
