It is not our week! Teenager marshmallow lost 78g this week and another 10g overnight, she's still eating but I think may be eating less, no other signs of illness, phone call to the vets when they open I think! I've offered syringe feed overnight but not much interest I will see what the vet says when they open xx

Oh poor Marshmallow. Continue to offer syringe feeds and let us know how she gets on. Hope she is ok.

No obvious signs of illness but guts seem a bit sluggish so she's got gut stimulants and recovery food and if no improvement by Friday she's got to go back, Princess is a whole other story ill update her thread xx

I hope the stimulants do their job and make her feel better. Come on marshmallow, eat up and get well.

Thankyou, I think this highlights the importance of weekly weigh ins, if it wasn't for weekly weigh in we would've had no idea as she seems well in herself!

Thankyou, she's done really well with the last syringe feed, 15ml in and she willingly took it, when I was first trying to syringe her she was just drooling it back out, 🤞 this means the gut stimulants are working!

Sending healing vibes to your girl. You are right about weekly weigh ins, without them Spike I don't think Spike would be here now.

Thankyou, I'm really proud of her, she's doing amazing with the syringe feeds! Grabbing the syringe for more! Hoping I can see a weight improvement when I reweigh in the morning! All this because nugget had a crazy strong season and didn't let her rest - or eat by the looks of it, so her guts have gone sluggish and now we've got to get them restarted! Pigs and their hormones! Yes so glad we weigh weekly and can spot changes, she was acting as usual so I'd likely have not noticed the reduced appetite if I hadn't weighed her!

Up to 945g 💪 we got this, come on little lady 💖
On the down side I think we have a case of sneaky bullying on our hands and may have to trail a seperation, caught nugget barging m away from the food bowls when she was trying to eat, she's not in season so I can't blame hormones this time 😔 to divide the cage for recovery or not is the question 😔 xx

Are they normally ok together - have you seen anything like this before? Do they have food bowls and hay piles at opposite ends of the cage?
They obviously need to eat hay constantly so if she is barging her away hay constantly too, then you may need to step in. But if it is just an occasional blip when they are fed veggies or pellets, then you may be able to watch while they eat and be able to shoo nugget away from her. You wouldn’t want to separate if there isn’t actually bullying because separation can be stressful for them.

Thankyou they're like it when nugget ((boss piggy)) in season normally but other than that they genuinely usually seem OK, I have two piles of hay, two water bottles, tunnels, two pellet bowls and I scatter feed veg, their cage is 24sqft so plenty of room to get away! it's just wherever ms going nugget is following and barging but then the next minute she's giving m food from her mouth! It's so random! I don't want to have to seperate but I also want marshmallows guts to improve, she seems starving when coming out for syringe feeds 😵 I'm wondering if I should offer hay etc when she comes out for syringe feeds that she can't be barged away from rather than a seperation then I don't cause more stress/ risk their bond.

I think if it isn’t constant and marshmallow is being allowed to eat, then I’d be tempted to watch and see what happens during the next few hours/all of today. Definitely offer hay with the syringe feeds. Perhaps try scatter feeding with the pellets as well as veg.

Thankyou I will do that, they are normally good friends, nuggets last season seems to have just thrown them off a bit! Pigs and their hormones!

I'm glad that marshmallow has recovered. Girl pigs are so much trouble sometimes! X

Aw, that’s so good she is putting on weight x

Good news here, she's still slowly gaining weight 961g today and her 💩 output is much better 😁 and they are back to being best friends, it was nuggets first season since moving into the bigger cage so that probably explains her behaviour 🤦‍♀️ but very happy with the improvements after spending a lot of time watching piggies over the last couple of days! 😁
