Hey all

its a long time planned and tonnes of research.... I've got my two guinea pigs today - will post some pigtures tomorrow after they've had 24 hours to settle! :)

I bought P@H nuggets and timothy hay (also put a half a carrot) is there anything else I should be feeding Range & Rover...? they are both probably about 8-10 weeks...

i know i shouldn't feed them much veg yet as their wee tummys are not used to vegs yet.

xx>>>

hi anyone?

i added half a carrot yesterday and its gone, but really not sure if I should be giving veg or not?

i thought i was all ready, but have a feeling i will have heaps to learn! apologies for delayed pictures... i'll try and take them soon - promise!

Hello,
Sorry, missed your post before. Congratulations on getting your new piggies. Look forward to the promised pics.
My guinea pigs were already on veg when I got them at 8 weeks, and my friend's baby guineas started on veg when they were a couple of days old so I don't think it's too soon at all. However, you will need to introduce new foods slowly, as you've said- they're tummies need to adjust. I'd give them carrot again today and start to add the basics- pepper, broccoli, etc- over the next few days.

If anyone more experienced has better advice, please add. :)

Mine were eating veggies pretty much straight after they were born .... well within a few hours .... I didnt know this could be a problem but it doesnt seem to have done them any harm....

If you knew what they were eating before then go with that - otherwise introduce new veg one at a time. Their tummies may need a little time to adjust. Also beware of putting them out on grass too soon - my herd has just gained Chamomile so they aren't going out on grass for another month at least, just limited treats from me rather than Chamomile getting the chance to stuff herself. I got back in from the garden earlier to a positive chorus of wheeking....that's why they got dandelions in a pot!

Incidentally - cool names!
