Sorry to leave this here but none of my friends would understand! they dont have guinea pigs lol

As some of you guys know we gave our two boys newborn guinea pigs to a rescue about 2 weeks ago. This rescue is run by foster homes. When we emailed them we got contacted by this lady that was very nice in the emails. When i get to her house to drop off the babies, this lady was not as nice as she was in the emails. But thats not all, she had this attitude like she knew it all and was trying to make me feel bad by saying a bunch of stuff about my guinea pigs and making me feel like i didnt know what i was doing. Telling me that my cage was not good for my guinea pigs, and that the babies were too skinny because i was not giving them baby pellets. My piggies are fine eating adult pellets, plus i was giving the babies veggies, timothy hay, alfalfa hay and parsley etc.. daily. So i know they were not underweight. Annnnd in the emails she told me that i only needed to pay $60 and she emailed me the day before telling me that i needed to bring food, and toys etc.. and in some cases we are requiered to bring the cage too. Like lady? I'm giving you money, so buy what you need with that money I'm giving you. When i get there she is telling me that its going to be $70 for the guinea pigs, which of course i didnt give her that amount. Not because it was a lot but because she was trying to rip me off. I just wanted to take my guinea pigs and leave that house. I didnt just because i couldnt bring them back home. I dont have the space to house two extra boys guinea pigs, plus i drove more than 1 hour to get to where she lived.

and thats not all!! sorry, almost done! ... what really bothered me is that last night i go to their website and see that they have our two babies for adoption and they made up this sad story that bothered me so much! they were saying how these two little piggies got to our rescue underweight, fearful and suspicious of their environment. Like seriously? -_- fearful? duhh they are only 3 weeks old, they had just been taken away from their mom and sister, plus they were put in a new cage. Like what were you expecting? for them to be popcorning and running around happy?

.... ok I'm done :) have a good day everyone lol

That sounds awful
They don't sound like a very good rescue to have treated you like that!
You probably know more about your Guinea pigs then she did!

It makes me very angry but anyone can become a rescue, which is how there are such bad places out there!

yes! in NYC is really hard to find small animal rescues, let alone a guinea pig rescue. All they have here is dogs and cats rescues. Sometimes you will find rabbit rescues but thats about it. This one unfortunately is one of the only ones that would take guinea pigs.

That’s so angering! Not only you drove that far, but to be treated like a fool. Sorry for your bad experience, that really sucks. At least you know they’ll be fed though lmao.

hahaha seriously! i dont doubt they are going to be well taking care of because the lady had a lot of cages and play areas etc... but so rude ughh

Ugh, that's awful :( I'm sorry you had such an awful experience, that's really no way for her to speak to you - especially as she should be making you feel at ease! I couldn't imagine talking to someone surrendering piggies to us like that. And she sounded rather judgemental too! Try not to let it stress you out x
