Yet to be guinea pig owner, have been researching and learning for about 2 months now, i have finally put together the cage and am confident that i am ready.

Its a 2x5 C & C cage
Planning to have two piggies

How does this look? Should i do anything else? Add/remove anything?

(I will be adding a hay bag across from where the water bottles are)

PLEASE NOTE- i will be extending the grids on the sides that are not up against the wall.

Thanks 🙂

Looks fab, I'd add some loose hay aswell as they love burrowing in it and a water bowl as well as the bottles (mine all prefer bowls). xx

A lovely cage.

I agree about having loose piles of hay. They are fantastic enrichment for piggies and they love being in piles of hay.

The brown wooden house - As that is a hidey (rather than a tunnel) with only one door then I would remove it. Only hides with two doors should be used as a single exit hide can cause fights and a piggy can get trapped inside by the other

Isn't it amazing how clean and prestine a cage can look when there's no pigs living there! It looks great your piggies will love it. Maybe some larger hides that piggies can share without being squished together like a big cardboard box or a piece of fabric over some of the cage.

Love it! Can't wait to see some piggies in there! Check they can't reach any power cables, I see you have a socket on the wall there- I have a blanket covering the back of my cage that hides sockets and cables, as my 2 would have a chew on them if they could!

looks like a dream piggy house! it's so amazing that u made sure to really prepare and do research to give them the best cage possible. many ppl buy 1st, and do research later but urs will go straight into a palace!

What a lovely home for your piggies. 🥰

You may initially need to cover half the cage with a blanket to help your new piggies feel safe. I would also perhaps move the two water bottles further apart.

If you haven't owned piggies previously it is worth reading the new owners guides on the forum. I found them really useful.

Looking forward to seeing pigtures of the new members of your family.

Looks great - if you end up changing it around during the first couple of wheeks don't be too surprised... those piggies often end up using the space in completely unexpected ways and we adapt to them 🤣
The biggest tweak we made was pee-pads in areas where there was a lot of sitting around and peeing - this means you don't always have to pull out the big fleece and wash the lot when only one corner is saturated and stinky. But you can't really predict where they are going to pee most!
