Hi all. I got 2 Guinea pigs about a month ago after my Harvey passed away. They are in a bedroom but we have found a rat in our garden. I’m wondering could it smell the piggies from the bedroom? Or are the piggies at any risk?

Put down rat poison and make sure all doors to the outside are shut and that the window in the bedroom the Piggies are in is shut.

Haven’t put poison down yet as I need to go buy some tomorrow. Window is shut bedroom door is shut during day and doors are shut.
I hope they’ll be okay 😩

Hi!

Most people are not aware of it, but they are rarely far away from rats.

Indoors guinea pigs are generally not at risk from rats as long as they cannot get into the house. Make sure that any lawn run is safe from rats, dogs, cats, foxes and aerial predators. Rats will kill guinea pigs.
