Hi, I have only just noticed that one of my piggies has quite bad rattling, snotty breathing. He was okay earlier in the day and I only seem to have noticed it in the last hour. I am trying to get a vet appointment for the morning which is difficult with it being a Sunday so I’m the interim does anyone have any advice? Is there anything that will help him with if? It sounds to be more so in his nasal/chest cavity? Thank you

I can’t really give advice but it’s always worth a vet check in case it is a URI.Are you in the uk? Vets 4 pets are open on a Sunday x

I second what gem 789 sais. Try vets4pets. Even if they dont normally see guinea pigs. They will probably give you some baytril antibiotic if it is a uri, this done the trick for my old pig pip who got this alot

i agree ,you need to get your piggie checked by a vet.uri can become fatal very quickly.i do hope it is not that serious ! i say better safe than sorry !

I agree that your piggy needs to see a vet ASAP. I’ve used vets4pets before on a Sunday when a piggy of mine had mild bloat when we were away from home. In the meantime, you can put your shower on and steam the bathroom and take your piggy in to the bathroom. The steam will help relieve the chest

See an all hours service if the snot doesn't disappear with an almighty sneeze within a few hours. Drafts from airing an overheated house/flat and major swings in temperature can cause URI, especially after the extra pressure from unusual heat this summer.

I have my own crackly piggy seen earlier last last week.
