Adult Guinea Pig
Liquorice has for a third time had a set back. She's back on the antibiotics as her eye was irritated on monday by a foreign object. Even when the eye appears to be ok, it's still presenting a bit of crust and swollen eye lids.. this time, it's a lot better, but i'm not convinced it's the end of it.
I added the P@H gel, as described on the tube, and the eye turned blue in front of my eyes, which leads me to believe that although the original injury healed, there's a hole somewhere that the gel obviously got into. 4 days of antibiotics have got us back to where we were when the eye originally healed.
She has full vision, isn't in any distress, and despite being out of sorts last Sunday (when you know a guinea pigs personality, you know when they're not quite right) within 24 hours, she was back to her usual sweet self of licking me to death
I'm taking her back to the vets on wed for a follow up, and look into whether she had a blocked tear duct, that maybe what caused a previous flare up (2nd treatment).. but until then, I can only speculate what is making it stubborn to heal properly..
(note - after first antibiotics did heal the injury according to the vet at the time, so don't understand why there is problems..
