I've been using ReadiGrass for nearly 2 years but it's recently been brought to my attention that it's fairly high in Calcium. I've noticed that 2 of my girls, Minnie & Minky have both been leaving calcium stains after weeing.

Has anyone else noticed this & does anyone know of an alternative that has less calcium content. There's several other brands out there inc. Top Grass, Just Grass & Graze On. I'm seriously thinks of changing to another brand so would really appreciate help with this.

I would have thought that all brands would be very similar in calcium content as generally they are all just dried grass.
Maybe you could consider alternating the readigrass with treat hay, I have been using the vitakraft vitaverde hay with rose as a treat and they love it. I do have readigrass in but they only get it once a week if that really.

Thanks, I'll maybe give that a try.

Does this mean that fresh grass has the same calcium or is the content a much higher % because the water has gone through drying?

I'm not sure to be honest, i would have thought something similar to that but not too sure.

Hi There, The only other one I've tried is "graze on", and I wouldn't recommend it , it is nowhere near as fresh or green, and my pigs were just not fussed on it.

Personally I stopped using them, Even though my pigs love ready grass I was getting white pools of sludge around my pig room floor, that dried into big powdery patches of calcium deposits like chalk!

and since I've stopped feeding ready grass, Graze-on etc. so have the white pools !!!

Thanks, I'll maybe just give them it in the winter months when there's no fresh grass about.
