My boys are very fussy when it comes to hay, and I have just been given a bag of Readigrass. Is this ok for them to eat all the time. I fill their hay rack up every day. The smell is wonderful but is it too rich for them.

And where is the best place to get it from!

I don't think they can have it all the time, more of a treat thing - every second day. Maybe someone else can give you better information though as to why as I'm not too sure - think it's because its too high in calcium.

I buy it for mine when I buy my Megazorb which I get from Farmway - I don't give them it every day but every other day.

This is a matter of debate! The spillers readigrass is pretty high in calcium but the friendly grass in the small bags has less calcium (also spillers)which is odd.

Too much calcium in the diet leads to the development of bladder stones, so a diet lower in calcium is better.

However, I know that Vedra from the CCT uses Readigrass ad lib!

Personally, I give a low calcium diet, veg that is low or medium in calcium and readigrass twice a week. I would rather play safe then for the pigs to suffer later on.

Mine have just grass every day.

I give Readigrass every day - they get it as their bedtime treat, a handful for each pig - but they always have hay available. I prefer to give a mixture for various reasons.

Mine have gone off their usua; hay so i have had to give them more Readygrass (aka green hay in our house). They love it but as we keep the boys in a rather small room, the smell of Readigrass can be overpowering.

I used to get mine at a Garden Centre where my in-laws live but we don't visit all that often so we had to keep it as a treat or emergency feed then but after researching their website, I have found some in a some local liveries, so now they get as much as they want... It says on the packet it's more nutritious than hay, so I never thought it could be harmful...:(

I have now invested in Excel Timothy Hay with Dandelion and Scratch and Newton (expensive) very fine meadow hay. Both going down very well, so at least they get a variety. They love it all...x)

Well I don't feed it, I'm allergic. I got a big bag last year and suffered for months with my sinus' not knowing what it was! In 2007 I had hayfever all year round!...lol I was almost thinking I was allergic to pigs but we pin pointed it to the readigrass as my allergy became worse when I bought it.

But what they lack in grass I make up for with veggies and hay. Shame really as they loved readigrass and it smelt lush but I can't compromise my health for them. Even tried Peter feeding it but it still proved a problem for me nostils! :(|)
