Hello,

I joined yesterday but I can't find the post I did. So I'm doing it again.

I have got two male Guinea Pigs, I nearly had them 2 weeks now. They were born on the 2nd Nov and are Rex crosses.
One is golden colour and called Syrup and his brother is Black with a bit one white on his chin, his name is Treacle.

They both love Readigrass.

I am after some advice, they chow down on the Readigrass as soon as I put it in and seem to love it. I've noticed the bowl I put it in is filled with the left overs when when they eat it. So it's like Readigrass flakes left.

I was thinking, in the past I have bought my rabbit hay blocks or cakes, the compress hey. Can I do something like that with what they leave?
I was thinking I could mix it was water, compress and dried it, but I'm guessing it would just fall apart when dry.

Any ideas.

When yours eat Readigrass do they leave any or eat the whole lot?

I'd hate to be letting it go to waste.

Thank you in advance.

I look forward to becoming part of this family

Hi Sheena, welcome to the forum. I'm not sure about drying it but due to the fact that readigrass has a high calcium level it's advised not to give more than a handful per pig every other day. It's more important to give them hay which should be about 80% of their diet. Look forward to seeing some pigtures :)

Hi Sandra,

Thank you for your reply :)

That's good to know.

They have a hay rack that gets filled twice a day and two toilet roll tubes stuffed with hay, twice a day.

They get a small handful of readigrass morning and night, so at least I know I'm feeding the right amounts :)

Of course they get pellets, morning and night along with a selection of veggies :)

I'm working on getting pictures lol

Aaaah that was my thread I think, however where can I find readigrass I cannot for love nor money find small bags of it, and my horses are far toooooo fat to share readigrass with the wiggles.
