Hi all your thoughts, not sure if the shop was just sayin this to make more money but I was told I should only feed ready grass in the rabbit piggie bags and not the horse size bales ..
It's the pet shop's way of making more money - they will transfer it from the horse sized bales into the small bags, or if ready done it will be the same stuff anyway
HOWEVER, if you only have a few piggies the horse sized one will be out of date before you use it up so you would waste money anyway!
I buy big bales but then boarding uses a lot and I sell some, but it still takes me 3 -6 months for a big bale. I only feed it twice per week though.
I buy horse bales from a local stable for £7.50 and it last ages. I don't find ut looses freshness either-just make sure it's sealed up after each use.
It gets a bit 'bitty' at the bottom but it's great value for money.
thanks all, i did think that too.. when i spoke to the pet shop i said 'thats not good business sense to make it twice when you can make it once and just two bag types'. he went quiet and soon said buy then.. lol.. so i was thinking it but wanted to see what you guys thought.
I don't mind buying a whole bale as works out cheaper and i have a friend with horses so she can have the rest before the date goes.. We have 5 piggies and they would get it every other day..
