Martha liked it so much she just jumped right in! Bo didn't want any, oddly. He just sat sulking about a metre away. I got a little worried and went out to the kitchen to cut up some cucumber to tempt him with and he went nuts :)! Weird, weird piggy not liking grass!

Yup! It's kinda hard now with only 5 hours of daylight... I was planning it for a christmas dinner but can't bring it with me to gothenburg

how did you grow that? just soil and grass seeds etc? and did you grow it in that bowl it is in?

Just soil and grass seeds, yes. I grew it in the cake pan you see!

This summer I will totally be collecting dandelion and timothy seeds!

Wow, that is so cool, I'd like to try it for my girls. Bo does look a bit confused in the first picture :(|) but they are both very cute x>>.

You could also try bird seed!

PS: Your bowl of grass looks so nice and tidy and your girls simply cute!

Wow how cool is that, bless poor Bo you are such a good mummy giving him cucumber to cheer him up.

I tried growing grass, but only got one crop before it withered and died.. Martha and chicken are soo cute..

How cool! I tried growing wheatgrass (I think it was wheatgrass anyway, I can't quite remember now! :{ ) but only one side of the seeds grew! They loved the bits that did grow though!

Love the first photo, they're very cute!

We grew this a year or two ago http://www.seedsofitaly.com/product/887 - it's mostly grass, and none the worse for that, though probably an expensive way to grow grass. I can't remember what the other leaves were, but it was all harmless-in-moderation stuff and I have a fond memory of giving a tray to our boars in the early spring when it was still too wet for them to go out on the lawn, and them diving headfirst into it.

How long did it take the piggies to eat of the cake tin full of grass? How many piggys were eating it?
Can you grow 3 to 4 at a time and when one is nearly all eaten swap it for another and let the others grow and keep rotating it?
Thanks!

Oh love i'd not seen this thread...............OMG you did soooooooooo well x)
very very spoilt babies, awwwwwwwwwww poor Bo maybe he was scared of the 'naughty silver dish'?? ;)

I grew some grass once that was sent to me and only Sully ate it, Duke thought it was poison! malletheadmallethead

The two girls finished that cake tin in 20 minutes flat... Yes, a rotating system with several "fields" is probably a good idea!

aww, what beautiful pigtures of martha and chicken! they are so happy in those pigtures, but did chicken manage to get some in the end? or did martha hog it all? very cute piggies there. xxxxxxxxx
