I always have my window open when I'm awake, else I risk the wrath of the fire alarm and I'm kind of done with its shenanigans. There's no suitable way to beat the stuffing out of a fire alarm that I not only can't remove but also that can't be replaced with any sort of ease. So...door closed. Flippin fell over trying to close my door earlier too and now I'm sitting here with a strapped wrist and a sore knee and thinking I'm too old for these disasters.

But I digress. See, with having the window open, I can hear the birds. Specifically the magpies, and then the crows when they annoy the magpies, and then the magpies picking fights, and the wood pigeons occasionally joining in with all of this, plus the common pigeons that hang out on the church roof.

And sometimes, in the middle of all of this, I'll hear another noise, suspiciously bird like but...not a bird. But is it a bird?

So I ask Cam. And he makes the same noise. Not a bird, then. :doh:

In other news Asda subbed some of my order and they're now going to get to try dill and basil this week. Dill might be okay. I can't wait to see the reaction to basil if I'm honest.
 
Basil was always a funny one in our house.
Ruby would eat it but none of the other pigs would.
It wouldn't surprise me if one of your boys decides they like it - they just seem like that sort of pig!

I want to say they disliked thyme except that's not actually true. They just kind of ignored its existence, lol. I'm expecting at least one of them to treat it like they do asparagus, and asparagus is "pull it all out of mouth" food. Bann ate it one day thinking it was a green bean and I, as a brilliant caring owner, was in tears laughing at him trying to get the asparagus back out of his mouth. Sorry, Bann, but it's not my fault you dropped your bean right next to it and picked the wrong thing up.
 
They'll eat mint, though they don't get it very often. Coriander and parsley go down well too...which was interesting, after Comet who really didn't care for it. Bann's hilarious though, I watched him earlier when there was broccoli and lettuce in the cage and he walked to the broccoli, and I remember thinking, "....don't do it again" because I knew he wanted the lettuce. He sniffed at the broccoli, apparently confused, because it wasn't lettuce. Lettuce was a couple of steps further away. I love him, but he's not the smartest.
 
Sorry to hear of your mishap. I’ve seen my lot disperse quicker than if I’d fired Pepper Spray at them when I dared to put basil in the cage.
 
It was a soft landing, I've definitely had worse. I don't quite know how my left wrist got sprained in the process, the knee's slightly more obvious because it's the one I twisted to fall in the first place. The wrist has me somewhat baffled. But meh, this is what I have self adhesive bandages for lol.

I'm looking forward to basil o'clock even more now if I'm honest. Sorry, goblins, but you're my entertainment for the evening now.

I had a very unceremonious fall on Sunday, walking from the car to the path on our favourite walk. It was very wet. And very muddy. And within a few minutes so was I. And my clothes. And I had to do the walk of shame covered in dripping mud back to the car…. In the car park….Where other people were…. And then be told to sit on a plastic bag in the car by my OH like a naughty toddler. I’ve bruised my knees, lower legs and one wrist!
 
I feel like saying "I'm laughing but in sympathy" probably doesn't translate well over text, buuut...I dunno a better way to phrase it.

I blame whatever eejit decided this is how to do doors:

I'm not alone in thinking this is stupid, right? And don't get me started on the light switch. I hope you're feeling better soon though @VickiA, it might just be bruising but it hurts just as much.
 
Hope you feel better soon @Lorcan and you @VickiA . At least your light switch is in the right room, the one for our kitchen is in the living room! You have to remember to switch it on before you walk into the room.
 
A previous address, I was unaware I had a working bathroom or hall light for a few weeks. The switch was outside the room, which was fine, but the the two switches were next to each other and it turns out that some bright spark (pun intended) had wired them so the one closer to the bathroom was the hall light, and the one on the far side of it, that was the bathroom light. So I had no light in either the hall or the bathroom til I realised the switches weren't the ones they should be.
 
You got there in the end. Our light catches out visitors every time, not that we've had any visitors since pre COVID. I think people have got used to not visiting now.

When I had to get the fan in the bathroom replaced he swapped them round for me, because it tripped him up too :))
 
Well, my friends, the basil arrived.

First, I don't remember basil ever smelling quite as strongly as this stuff does and I figured, nope, I'm outta luck here.

Bann agreed. I left him running laps around the cage to search for the good stuff I've obviously thrown into the cage (keep dreaming, Bann) but he keeps making massive detours to avoid the poison I've put in his way.

Cam, however, I wouldn't say it's a favourite and he did join Bann in a couple of laps but he's actually eaten a couple of leaves and some stalk.

So there it is. Bann thinks it's some kind of malevolent poisonous triffid, and Cam's appreciating the opportunity to get extra food.

Also, I think this has been a remodelling problem. I don't know how it would've been before, but my bathroom looks like it used to be bigger, and I'm pretty sure my second bedroom didn't originally exist. So where my door is, I'm pretty sure that was just a wall, and that the original door would have been on the same stretch of wall as the switch. But then the bathroom's been squashed, and the room's been squashed, to create another smaller bedroom.

This would be all well and good except they left the light switch where it was, so don't ever try finding it in the dark, and they moved the door and put the hinges on the wrong side because whoever it is, is a moron. But I hate the door more than the switch. The switch is annoying. The door's a hazard.
