>:( >:( >:( Have had 3 lots of damp and mouldy hay from my local pet shop ! Their local farmer says they are having a real problem with drying it out. Where do you buy your hay from and is is good stuff ? I`m in Bucks and I pay £1.60 a bag and use 10 bags a week. :-\ :-\ :-\

I get mine from a farm shop/ horse food supplier. The bales are quite variable but I've stuck lucky with the last one. They have gone up in price becuase of the weather from £3 to £3.50.

I dont buy bales as I cant fit them anywhere - my grandma actually buys me my hay now from her local shop it is organic and delivered daily to the shop. Costs me £2 for a small bag though but it does last me nearly a week each bag :)

Bales are very reasonably priced though O0

I`m the same as you, I can`t store bales as I do know its cheaper to buy them...... :-\ :-\ :-\

I'm in Bucks aswell i buy my hay from a small local petshop for 90p a bag.
Try the yellow pages for a list of local petshop's. :)

I'm in Berks and get it delivered by the local farm shop. They've cut a bit but it got wet while it was drying but is dry now and baled- still more to cut and probably no second cut this year. I've stocked up on last years hay as I just couldn't be without 'cheap' hay and I have a delivery of Canadian Timothy coming within the next week. If you can pick up from Berkshire I'll order you some in (but its strictly eating hay) or I sell Alpine and Herbal in bulk (but again strictly eating). It can be delivered too.

But your best bet would be to ring round the farm shops and maybe share a bale with someone.

I have been talking to the farmers and they have told me to get surpless hay in now if anyone has last years hay left because things are only going to get worse ad prices are going to go sky high for any that is available .we have just over 100 bales here but thats for 2 horses,7 goats and all the piggies

I'm buying in as much as I can store, I really can't be without cheap hay. I get them Canadian Timothy as well but thats strictly for eating. Also have some European Meadow hay in but its the good old Meadow hay that I use most of. How long will 100 bales last you?

100 Bales will last us around 12 weeks ::) but we have managed to get another hundred reserved this week

I get a bale at a time lasts months for £3 but last one was full of thistles and thorns, dreading getting more as its from an area that flooded bad so very short supply,

Thinking of getting big order of timothy hay but will see if i can get a bale first....

I buy it from my local petshop for a fiver (it lasts ages) and I've only ever had 1 mouldy bag.
