piggiesforever

I've been keeping my eye out for a friend for my Rambo (7 week old boar) and thought It would be great to get a boar in his later years and offer him a lovely indoor home with a baby to dote on him and the local RSPCA have told me they have Adult males but they'd kill him rather than bond and I'd be better off getting a baby.

I have in the past introduced babies to fully grown boars successfully and can't bloomin beleive what they've said.

It would be so easy for me to get hold of another baby but I want to give a big cuddly guy a second chance and figured If both pigs were a long way off puberty I'd have no trouble grrrrgrrrrgrrrrgrrrr

I can't believe the RSPCA - of all animal charities - would say that. I'm sorry you've been told that, it would upset me greatly too.

I would contact the head office and tell them. If you are offering a home to a boar and they are just going " oh well we will kill them instead" then that is a flippin :x:x:x:x...

I aint going into the RSPCA as there are good branches and bad branches but follow this up as i can understand (to a certain degree) if they haev too many animals and not enough homes but if you are offering a home and you are experienced then they are being unreasonable...

Actually dont contact head office speak to the manager of the rescue and if no joy there then go to head office!

Sorry If post was misleading, the man I spoke to was convinced adult boars would kill my baby boar not that they were going to kill the boars just that they won't rehome them to go with babies

Sounds like he needs educating. I have successfully bonded a 6 week old boar with an 11th month boar who is a narky bum and would be better suited to spending his time with the gremlins! :)

Why boars get such a bad press I don't know, maybe you can suggest bringing your own guinea to the rescue to see if he can bond with another.

Rambo has a date at GBH Beckenham tomorrow to pick a boyfriend It's just a lot further to travel than the rspca centre. Rest assured I will find him a buddy

I was told by a certain RSPCA centre that my group of three sows wouldn't accept a fourth. It's such a shame when you know you'd be able to give a rescue a great home. I'm glad you haven't been put off though, good luck with finding him a little friend! xx>>>

That is terrible that an organisation like that is giving out mis-information. It could be leaving hundreds of animals without homes unnecessarily.
