Really short nail

I was trimming the pigs nails last night and I noticed that one of Lulu's on her front left foot is really short. She doesn't have much white nail before the pink bit. Is this down to nibbling her own nails? I've noticed the pigs giving their back feet a quick nibble after scratching almost like cleaning their nails
 
hmm I think Bea had a similar thing with one nail that we didn't need to trim
 
We have seen our pigs nibble at thier nails when they have scratched too and one of our baby girls has had two nails come out and they still not grown back yet. My adult girl her nail came out and it took ages to grow back. Wonder if they just fall out by themselves?
