I have a very lonely little girl, her mummy died suddenly and she hasn't delt with being alone well. My other 3 won't accept her either.
She is only a year old and small (i rescued the pair and wonder if her size is down to her life before living here).
My question is, now i am looking for a friend for her what age piggy do i look for? Do i try to find one of a similar age or doesn't it matter? I want her to be happy again bless her.

I personally would say it doesn't matter. What about getting her a neutered boar?

Either way rescues are over run with piggies needing homes, so you could take your little girl there and let her choose her own friend.

I would first like to cogratulate myself on winning my personal battle to wotk out how to put pictures on.

I have no problem with male or female, i just wanted an idea of if age matters before i start asking in the rehoming section.

Thank you. She is a little sweetie but so sad, she has stopped talking and eats very little at the moment. I need to get a friend soon as extra cuddles aren't working.

You may need to start syringe feeding her critical care or mushed up pellets, have you been recording her weight? without the right amount of food and hay piggies digestive systems slow down and even pack up. If you need help with syringe feeding please ask. xx

Thank you. Yes sadly I'm a dab hand with syringe feeding as ive had to do it with past piggys.
You can see why I'm keen to get a friend introduced soon.

Yes, well only when you ready, but i think it would be good for your current piggy. xx

I have tried on 3 seperate occasions now 2 resulted in a very agressive fight with my 5 year old lady who was being protective of the other 2 younger girls she lives with, doesn't help that my 5yr old Roxy, has a attitude to go with her temper.

Oh dear.. Sounds like maybe a new friend is best for her. :(

What a gorgeous little girl! Contact a rescue and ask them if she can be taken dating. You do not have your own transport do you? You can ask them to use a piggy train.

A sow can basically go with another sow or a neutered boar of any age, provided the two click! I have rebonded several bereaved mature sows of mine that way, as well as found the ideal "husboar" for a couple of redoubtable cataract sows.

It is worth going that bit further to a good rescue, as you will only get a guaranteed properly sexed, not pregnant and healthy piggy, and the bonding will happen under expert supervision. You only come home with another piggy if there has been success, so you minimise your risks.

Here is our map of recommendable rescues; it is being updated and extended all the time: http://maps.google.co.uk/maps/ms?msid=209994852075231951564.0004b8fd9391b4257d8eb&msa=0

Please weigh any piggy that you suspect of not eating properly daily and if necessary hand feed.
