I was a bit disappointed to open a box of soft meadow hay earlier from dustfreehay. I have always been delighted with the hay they provide but it is quite brown and doesn't have much green in it at all. The pigs don't seem to be enjoying it and what's worse is that I had 10 boxes delivered! Is the reason that the hay isn't as nice because of the time of the year? Has anyone recently ordered nice hay? If so, where from? As I need to get some more asap as I don't think they're too keen

I am using Dustfreehay at present. I am on sack number 5 of 10 and my pigs don't seem to like the current sack.. I have had them a few months now. Have you tried contacting Dust Free Hay as they may agree to replace if yours is a recent order?

I had 5 bags of dust free hay 2 weeks ago and it was very green and soft.it is very unusual for them to have off brown hay.I would contact them,I'm sure they will sort it out for you.

That's odd, I use them and so far the hay has been fantastic. I have just had another delivery so I will check it. I would go back to them and say something. I find them very approachable.

To be honest I've not checked the other 9, I just assumed they were all the same as I ordered them together. Hopefully it's just the one sack as I'd be disappointed otherwise

Hay for pets Ings hay is lovely and green, but was disappointed with their timothy and rye hay x

I had a peak in two of the other boxes and they look the same. Shorter and thinner strands not very green. So disappointed as I've always shopped with dustfreehay and the pigs have always loved it. Luckily I have a box of timothy hay as I always use mostly soft hay then a handful of timothy on top so they're eating mostly timothy hay at the moment but are having a little nibble at the soft hay. I've just ordered a sample pack (meadow hay, timothy hay and Ings hay) from hay for pets. Has anyone used them before?

Hay seems to be a bit of a lottery quality-wise at the moment. I had some duff stuff via an online supplier a while back. Disappointing as never had problem before with them! I am not far away from a very large Farm and Pet store, they have a good selection of ready-bagged meadow hay in clear bags so I can easily see which batch looks the best. Their horse bales are often very nice, but I simply don't have the storage space:mal:

I like to buy my hay in local shops so I can inspect it having had quality issues in the past. I think this is a bad time/year for hay. Last week B & M, Wilkinsons, Asda and an independent shop had completely sold out. I eventually found some brown stuff in an other independent but the piggies won't eat it (now got 2 bags in greenhouse for strawberry beds). Eventually found some acceptable Timothy in another B & M which will keep us going until I can find some decent Meadow. The first independent shop told me they are having problems getting supplies as there is a shortage owing to last summers damp humid weather.
