Hi,

This may be a weird question but I just need reassurance.

Should a guinea-pig go into a rescue or was bought in by a stranger who has no idea on its background, and the guinea-pig 'appeared' to be neutered, how do you confirm it is definitely neutered? (For Boars)

Silly question I know but this has been bugging me for some-time!

As surely in some cases, when guinea-pigs have been bought in and has been neutered - This is normally confirmed by its owners, but what happens if the owner wasn't present?

Reason being; 2 guinea-pigs were abandoned and was bought in by a 'friend' of theirs as they cared about their welfare, and told them he was neutered. But I find this weird, as surely it's rare for g.pigs that have 'abandoned' cared for and neutered by original owners at their expense, unless it was rescued. But we will never know now.

I'm just curious - is this quite a common thing?

Same for females - I'm guessing the only way is to open them up? (Although I know it's extreamly rare that rescues have neutered sows that were bought in)

Am interested to hear more on this!
Lessie :)

Any reputable rescue would know what a neutered boar looks like, so would no by one glance.

Neutered boars have no balls for the want of a better expression, they still have a willy which can be popped out, but no package. I have a neutered boar myself.

if you can't tell by looking, a quick feel will answer your question! As for female, mine have visible scars if you really look
