We are currently in the middle of moving house. When we move, I would like an outdoor hutch and run set up for the piggys, to house a minimum of 2 piggys, maximum of 4 piggys. I have trawled the internet for ideas, and there are loads, but does anyone on here have any recommendations? Thanks :)p

If you consider an outdoors hutch, please keep in mind that guinea pigs tolerate only a fairly narrow band of temperatures and suffer in heat waves as well in cold weather like this winter.

Have a look through our housing section and perhaps think about alternative accommodation during the winter months.

Thanks for the link - wow!

Sorry should have been clearer, my pigs live in a shed all year round currently, going on the grass in a run. But in Spring/Summer would like them to have continual access. Thanks :)p

Hi, my piggies are outside but go in a heated shed for the winter months. I'd say get as big as you can :)) with a run that can be detached, try to get a good solid one out of tongue and groove wood rather than the thin ply stuff and make sure two of you are able to lift it if you need to move it onto different grass (or more importantly if going in the shed for winter that it will fit)!

I made the mistake of buying a hutch that doesnt have a cover that will fit it, i use tarpaulin but it gets blown off when its windy! so id recommend making sure a cover will fit your hutch before you buy, and an insulated one if its out in the cold.

Also make sure there is somewhere the hutch will go in a full shade in summer because the heat is just as bad as cold.
