Mrs Teapot

Newbie advice needed.

I can't work out which fruit and veg to give the GP's. Been told and have read SO many conflicting advice. Particularly with lettuce and apples.

Is there a definitive list that you recommend?

Many thanks

Herryjohn can i ask are you a spammer?

You have made 3 posts on different threads all of which make no sense and 2 are the exact same posts...:))

I hope I'm not coming across accusing but it is baffling me!

I am glad you posted this Mrs Teapot as i am a newbie myself and was looking for a list off good/bad foods :)

No problem. I'm a TOTAL novice. But learning fast!

Still confused by lettuce though. Some say its dangerous, others say its fine. Who to believe?

Yes, lettuce should really only be given as a treat as it is to piggies what chocolate is to us. And they never be given iceberg lettuce - its too watery and not good for them.

NEVER iceberg I agree, the odd bit of other types is ok so I'm told. Apple in moderation as it could cause mouth ulcers and they shouldn' have too much sugary fruit. Mine go nuts for it!

Not the case at all - pigs can have most types of lettuce apart from Iceberg. They are full of nutrients. Many can be fed daily.

I highly recommend this page - http://www.guineapigcages.com/forum...cavys-diet-read-me-nutrition-charts-info.html

It lists all the fruits and veggies with their nutrient content and is colour coded according to how often they can be fed.
