Now that xmas is out of the way, I am planning to get my two lone male pigs nuetered so that they can live much happier lives with a lovely wife each. I'm very nervous as both are like my babies and I would hate anything to happen to them so I'm trying to do as much research as possible. Can anyone recommend a good vet who knows what they're doing in the West Midlands? I live just north of Birmingham in Sutton Coldfield.

I've used Oakfield in castle bromwich as a specialist vet for chinchilla dental problems and thought they were very good if a little more costly.

However if you don't have a problem at present it's always worth phoning around your local vets, asking if any of their vets has an interest in small animals and bookin a checkup to see how you like them. A good vet will always find out of he/she doesn't know.

What about the one that Walsall RSPCA use, they take all their pigs there, might be worth asking Vicky where it is. xx

I did a lot of searching around online when I got my piggies last year, to try to find recommendations for a good guinea pig vet in Birmingham and the general consensus seemed to be nobody had found one yet.

I had a look at the websites for all practices within a reasonable distance and did some research on how to identify a good vet for guineas. I found this link fairly helpful: http://www.cavyinfo.com/html/vet.htm

I've registered mine with Manor Vets, they have several practices in the area including one in Edgbaston, where their exotics specialist is based. I have to say though, the piggies haven't had to go to the vet yet so I can't comment on whether I would recommend them or not. I just wanted to get them registered in case of emergencies.

I'd also be interested to hear if anyone does have any recommendations. I'll certainly bear in mind the post flagged up by Woodlouse as well.

Hope you find somewhere you're happy with and that the ops go well.
