Just wondered how rescue centres are recommended.

I got my boys from Assisi outside Bangor, Northern Ireland. They have dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters - you name it. I went to this centre even though it was a 1 & 1/2 hour drive to get their as they have really high standards when it comes to rehoming - they gave me great advice months before I adopted my pair, and helped with everything from housing to feeding - they also give a really comprehensive booklet with them and it includes all the varieties of housing available including C&C, hutches and sheds. The people who care for the small animals are extremely rigid in their adoption conditions and really look out for the welfare of rabbit and guinea pigs and try to home in pairs.

I wonder whether they could be added to the website for people living here?

I had contacted another very newly started up private rescue, but they were completely adamant that I should not keep guinea pigs in a shed, and they only adopted to people who housed them indoors all year round, so I looked elsewhere.

cheers!

I will see if our rescue locator lets us add them to the map. Thanks

That's good to know - the girl in charge of the rabbits and guinea pigs was great, very knowledgeable and quite strict about how they should be kept, though I know I bombarded her with a ton of questioning emails :)

I only have my own good personal experience to go by, but understand that it takes more than one happy camper to determine how a rescue centre is operating. Will trust it to your experienced team to decide whether they should be added to the list or not, and hopefully they will deserve a place if they meet the standards required. :)
