Just curious as to how everyone keeps records of their piggies weights.

I have a hard copy sheet for every pig that I record on every day I weigh them and then an Excel file where every pig has their own individual sheet. Just working on organizing and catching up on the Excel sheets....wondering how you all keep record, if there may be an easier way. :p :))

I usually weigh every 4 days, sometimes more, but never less. I'm kind of obsessive about their weight changes. :red :))

Gosh you are organised love! well done xx>>>xx>>>
I know Lindsay also does hers on excel and i think maybe Louise as well (they can correct me if i'm wrong mallethead)
I use my diary i have their weights and anything else, vet appoints etc...
When Duke was alive i had all his ups and downs with weight, foods etc...
I can go back thru the diary easily to find out anything i want on him.
The reason i use this as it's out on the bench permanently, we live a busy life style and i have to keep track of what's what :))

I do mine also on excel.
Its easy to keep track off.

If you saw my mess of a house, you would beg to differ! :)) :p

I just like to keep all their info tidy and I can get to it.

I should be doing more, but you two are distracting me! :p Luckily this doesn't have to be finished tonight.

I have printed charts for all of mine. One chart lasts 6 months, weighing once a week. I do have a picture of them uploaded somewhere...

Each of mine have a weight chart. I weigh them on the kitchen scales, then convert into grams on my phone! I weigh babies and any pigs with issues every 3 - 4 days. My others every 2 - 4 weeks. x

I weigh weekly I note any changes on who I have to watch out for and monitor if need be. I convert to lbs and oz grams really don't mean anything to me lol I note all weights down every 2 weeks as lots of mine are fully grown so I just check they haven't lost for the weeks inbetween.

Any pig I am monitoring I weigh every other day. :)

I bought a digital postal scale that you just press a button and you get grams, ounces and lbs and oz. Pretty handy and only cost $25!

I only record ounces and grams....typically grams mean nothing to me either, but that's what the vets use so I do both.

I weigh mine as and when usually don't go more than a month and if something is making me suspicious ie if they seem unwell then do it once a week. I am still using the chart nutmeg gave me when she brought tiger round and I have added george to the other collumn.

I find it helps me when I'm worried when they are eating less and still putting on weight

Average weight for an adult guinea pig - whether male or female - is generally 2lb-4lb, give or take for some pigs. Most will weigh in the region of 2 and a half pounds.

that's nice to know always thought george was "chunky" not fat but big, but he must be just an average weight as at his heaviest was 1018gms which is about 2.24 lbs

Hiya,

Some how but i do i weight all mine weekly in a pair of weighing scales i used to use for cooking. Iv made a speadsheet on my computer and add to it weekly. In the few weeks iv done it iv noticed a difference in my piggies all with progress.

My big boy Cheese can just about fit in them lol x

I weigh all mine, rescues too, every Thursday morning.

I keep a writtten chart with their weight on and also notes of anything else such as baths, mite treatment etc.

I keep all the records together in the pig room so can easily look back over each week - I keep records for about two years.

I encourage anyone who adopts from me to regularly weigh their piggies - it can reveal so much and can be useful in detecting early signs of illness.

I write their weight on the adoption forms too so that people have a point of reference.

I have sows here weighing 900g up to 1300g and boars weighing up to 1700g !
