Recovery After Bladder Flush?

I know it's illegal to keep a guinea pig alone, but does it still count even if she's next to the others through the bars?
I was going to say the same thing. Strictly speaking she will be on her own but she will have company of others so she won't be lonely. She will still be able to interact with them if she chooses to. Surely that is not illegal. She won't be the only guinea pig in the place.

Even though technically she can't be kept alone, I do think the fact she has access to other guinea pigs through the cage would make this more acceptable.
Plus I have to believe that if for some reason we were inspected (it does happen) that animal control would be smart enough to see that our animals live in conditions that exceed all of the minimum requirements, and would not benefit from being removed and re homed elsewhere. I also made it clear to the vet that I would try and re bond her eventually with one of the piggies we currently have, but I am not in a position to take on a 5th pig on the off chance that Ruby might like them.
The worst part is that I don't want to keep her alone, but I have to accept that may be what Ruby wants.

Next time I'm getting a pet rock....

I think it's great that they have laws in place to stop guinea pigs being kept as lone pets.. but as you say Ruby may be one of those pigs who likes her own space and is happy to interact through bars. I'd like to think they could see she was well looked after and it was in her best interest.

I've not been on much over the last couple of weeks so I've just seen this thread. I'm glad Ruby is getting better but really feel for you that she's fallen out with Lucy. I've seen your other thread about the issues you've had bonding the others too. I can't offer advice, only good wishes. I hope it all works out. X

Just catching up with all this - so sorry :(

It may be that once Ruby has recovered she could go back with a friend. When Cookie was seriously ill she lost the bond with her friends who would bite the cage to get away from her. Don't think too far ahead I know this is easier said than done... get Ruby well first then cross the next bridge, maybe getting off the baytril will help, after a long course it can really make them glum at least the vet is open to a septrin switch if needed - it is far less of a battle to get it in them. IS she eating okay? How is appetite? Maybe a gut stim such as Metachlopromide may help?
Sending a huge hug to you and lots of love to Ruby x x

My, you have gone through so much lately. :( Wish I could help. :hug:x
All my best to you, Ruby, and your daughter! Hope things will turn around for you soon! x
