Junior Guinea Pig
Hello,
I have two piggies who are both being treated for a URI caused by infection of two bacteria - Bordatella bronchispetica and Streptcoccus pneumoniae (we did the test). They have been on meticam (0.2ml/day) and doxycycline (0.04ml twice / day). They have also been nebuliser twice daily with F10.
They have been on this for 3 weeks now at least. The vet has stated that they should stay on the course up until 22/12/2025 (another two weeks or so).
I have the piggies booked in for a Guinea pig rescue boarding starting from 22/12/2025.
I obviously don’t want to put them in the rescue to stay over Christmas if they have a chance of still having it at the time as I don’t want any of the other piggies to catch it. I do have the opportunity to take them with me over Christmas (although it would be less stressful for them to be able to stay at the rescue)
I guess what I’m asking is that whilst both piggies seem almost 100%, one is still occasionally sneezing and it isn’t getting much better or much worse (just occasional sneezes). Has anyone had experience with whether this could clear up in time?
I want to let the boarding place know in good time so they can offer someone else the space if necessary!
I hope this makes sense!
