Just curious as to what everyone does with the waste when its cage clean day - we are lucky enough that the local council lets 'vegetarian pet bedding' in the compast bin for recycling, they also collect food waste in the same bin and say it is ok to wrap in in a little newspaper. So I put the newspaper, wood shavings and hay waste all in the compast bin.

I am planning to try a few other types of bedding and have some megazorb (which I guess will compost) and Finacard & Paperlit to try - not sure which bin they will go in !

What does anyone else do ? What do councils round the country do for recyling it all ?

Can you tell it is cage clean day !

I only have a normal bin or recycling bags which seems such a waste as the piggy mess has to go in the bin. Hopefully I will buy a compost bin for my garden when I move and then I can fertilise my plants with nutrient rich soil from piggy poo

Each council is different, in terms of what they provide for recycling and what they will accept. Will depend on the type of contract they have with a contractor like veolia, biffa, Sita. But that's boring.....:(

My council don't permit to recycling small animal pet bedding, so I have to bag up my newspaper, hemp, hay and use to the non recycling bin which I dislike doing.?/

But I've ran out of bedding until mid week so they are going on fleece for a few days...not the end of the day but A pain for me...oh well needs must.:(

My council are the same - wood shavings and hay from the litter trays can only be put in the black household rubbish bin - silly really as i dont see why it cannot go in the green garden waste bin - it's only dried grass mallethead
