I have posted yesterday but I am desperate for an answer. His eye is still red n became raising in top left corner. Does anyone know what this could be
?
Aww poor boy Have you seen a vet? If not, I suggest a vet visit ASAP for treatment.
My Eliza ended up having an eye removed last year She sub stained an injury to her eye and her eye raised like that. HOWEVER her eye was much, much worse than that, all bloody and her eye would have ruptured if it hadn't have been removed.
I haven't seen your other thread but I imagine the raised area could be swelling from an injury? It was with Eliza anyway.
We have been to the vet, suspected absess and we are trying antibiotic and eye drops. I don't know what will I do if he will have to loose his eye I am very upset

It is very upsetting diagnosis, and I hope that the meds will help getting on top of the abscess. What antibiotic is he on?
Loss of an eye is actually not the end of the world. We have got a few one-eyed piggies on the forum that are living the same happy, fulfilled lives as a fully sighted piggy. As the eye cavity will be sewn shut, it will not even look gross; it will look just like a shut eye.
I am sorry for your diagnosis and shall keep everything crossed that the antibiotics and eye drops work.
Try and not dwell on the possibility of the eye needing to be removed.
I am one of those who has a one eyed piggy and although Eliza's story isn't as straight forward as most, it really isn't that bad and she lives a very active and happy life with just one eye
I am so glad I have you all he is on zithromax, and fucithalmix ( eye drops) . he isn't himself ATM and lost weight but I put him on special diets and I hand feed him just to make sure he is getting something. Its just unfortunate that he had to have dental again and this eye at the same time.
I really hope you start to see some improvement soon. Sanctuary resident, Monty, recently had a retrobulbar abscess but despite using Zithromax the abscess continued to worsen and he needed to have his eye removed. Since then he has come on in leaps and bounds and the Zithromax worked its magic. I have dealt with a lot of retrobulbar abscesses here at the Sanctuary, and many have cleared without the need for removing the eye and just the use of Zithromax but in Monty's case this wasn't to be as the abscess was very deep and aggressive. Hopefully your piggy will recover without the need to remove the eye, but if it does come to that then please try not to worry too much. Monty is coping just fine with one eye and his dental problems have improved too.
