One of my piggies has started scratching his ear and its now quite red. He isn't attempting to scratch anywhere else on his body and the others are not showing this behaviour. Is there anything I can buy, such as medicated drops? or would it be better for a vet to take a look at him. Any suggestions welcome

It’s always best to go to a vet. Self medicating is never a good idea for two reasons : you don’t know what problem you are treating and any producfs you can buy in pet shops are not strong enough to deal with anything anyway

Hi!

If the heavy duty scratching continues, please see a vet. It is better to treat correctly right from the start instead of home quacking and then ending up with a much more advanced problem and more cost - and still a vet to see.

Please be aware that guinea pigs regulate the body temperature via the blood flow through their ears. This means that the vessels are very close to the surface and that ears can turn red very quickly and easily. ;)
