Hiya,

I had my piggie Chloe on my lap today and I noticed her poo was red. It was t completely red but it was half red half brown. Does anyone know what this could be and if I need to take her to the vet? I have attached a photo but the lighting isn't very good so I don't know whether you'll be able to see.

Thankyou

I sadly do not know what red poo could mean. If in doubt, take a trip to the vet! I hope a more experienced user can help you out!

What has she been eating as foods can sometimes discolour the poo? But if in doubt, a vet visit would be wise. Take the poo to show the vet
She has been eating pepper, sweet corn, lettuce, carrot and tomatos, but nothing that they don't normally have.

I think a vet trip is in order here, hope it’s nothing serious

Can you clean out the cage, that way you can monitor her poo, and assuming she’s with a cage mate you may need to put some sort of divider in so you can keep a close eye...

I put her in a seperate cage earlier and waited for her to poo and I did the same thing with poppy her sister and I then found out that they both have red poo.

A vet trip is definitely on the cards. Take the poop with you to show the vet and keep us informed.

They both had red poo? That would most likely point to something they have eaten..

So poo now is fine? No hunching crying when pooing?

If the poo is not red now and they are happy, active, no crying when pooing I would make a apt for next week in case it happens again weekend. Don't feed them anything red this weekend and see

Obviously if you are concerned then see a vet earlier

You sure they didnt have Beetroot !

I agree with this. Hold off from the vet if they are still active and acting normal but keep an eye on their poos over the weekend.
