Red Sore Foot

About 5 days ago I adopted 4 piggies. Today I did a first health check and found that Hattie had a red sore a swollen foot. Do you think I should get the gorgeous guineas foot lotion to put on the foot? I think it maybe the start of bumble foot, but there are no bars in their cage where I adopted them from and none now. What do you think the causes might be? I let them out everyday in a playpen in the garden.

There are many causes of sore feet. I agree that it's best to get a proper diagnosis before attempting treatment.

Bumble foot is basically foot infection. It can be caused by a number of things, not just standing in a wire bottomed cage.

All the other pigs seem to have the same problem
Although Hattie's foot looks a lot better today. I am going to wait a few days and if it does not get better, or even worse, I will take them all to a vet. I cannot find a cavy vet near me but I have a good vet specialising in small dogs but they have treated some of my hamsters before, do you think that vet would be okay?

Sometimes urine scalds can start it off. I removed my boys litter trays as sitting in the wet hay before I had a chance to change it started to nake their feet like this.

Since doing so they have cleared. Def consult a vet since the feet are swollen.

The swollen has gone down since yesterday, but that is a good point,where I adopted them from they tended to sit in a tray with sawdust in which they went to the toilet in and wasn't changed often. Now the sawdust is changed everyday and they have a bigger space so they don't sit in there for long. Hopefully their feet will get better, if not I will book a vet appointment!
