Red wee

When I was topping up the piggies’ hay, I noticed two red patches on the girls’ puppy pad in their hay tray. I’m a little worried but the earliest I can try to book them in is Thursday or Friday.

Apart from a tomato each on Sunday, they’ve had nothing red in the past 4-5 days. I’m hoping there won’t be any more in the morning.

I'm no expert, but that does look rather red. I hope you can get an early appointment for them and it's nothing serious.

Perhaps you can get a syringe from the chemist and try and get a wee sample from them and take it along to the vets with you. You just need to put them on a clean solid surface and wait, then after they go suck it up from the surface using the syringe. It needs to be fresh on the day for them to test it accurately.

That looks more brown in colour to me, which could be oxidation from the air mixing with the pee. But yea have her checked anyway

Thanks everyone. It looked more red than brown, and there was more staining this morning. Problem is I don’t know who’s doing it so would have to take them both in. I’ll see when I can book then to be seen.

Can you put paper towels down to check? The puppy pads make it look reddish. Hoping everything is ok.

You may want to try separating out each pig on a white towel or other clean surface until they pee, to see if you can identify the culprit. I used to pop my pigs in a laundry basket on a white towel with treats like cucumber (nice and watery) until both peed and I could take a look to see whose pee was off. It might save you having to pay for double vet exams. I would query a urinary tract infection or something similar, which can be treated with antibiotics. Hope you can identify the red pee-er and it's a quick fix for you!
